No Recourse to Public Funds
For details of the assessment offer in this specialist area see the No Recourse to Public Funds Assessments under Other Services
As a Social Worker in the HIV Team in Hammersmith and Fulham I did my first 'No Recourse to Public Funds' Assessment in 1996, just months after the successful legal challenge to the Governments decision to withdraw income support from some categories of asylum seeker. Since then, as an HIV specialist Social Worker/Manager, I have been the NRPF expert and lead in Lambeth, Kensington and Chelsea and latterly Coventry.
While in Coventry I worked with our legal team to develop practice guidelines and trained specialist workers to carry out the Community Care assessment under s21 of the National Assistance Act and quality assured those assessments.
During that time Coventry my team won 2 Judicial Reviews of our decisions, lost none and were able to prevent numerous 'Pre-Action Protocols' from progressing to a full review.
