Continuing Health Care
To prepare for the introduction of the new Continuing Health Care Framework in 2007 I took on the additional responsibility of being Continuing Health Care lead for Coventry City Council from until November 2010.

During this period Coventry experienced significant increases in
I was a member of the West Midlands SHA regional appeals panel and the Coventry appeals panel. From 2008 to 2010 I was invited to be the West Midlands representative on the ADASS National Continuing Care working group.
I also delivered lectures to both Social Work and Learning Disability Students at Coventry University, which were so well evaluated by the students I was asked back twice.
In this role I worked with my opposite number in the PCT to
- rewrite local policies and procedures
- deliver training to health and social care assessors
- agree a local disputes resolution process
- set up local decision making panels
- agreed direct payment models
During this period Coventry experienced significant increases in
- the number of people eligible for CHC funding
- the number of people with a contribution from the PCT to their care package (over and above RNCC)
- the overall saving to Social Care budgets
